The Power of Positive thinking (Law of Attraction)
By: Kristina Tsipouras, November 16, 2015
Ten years ago, I was in my freshman year at College in RI. I ended up at a school and with a major that I simply did not connect with. My sister and best friend were studying abroad, my boyfriend of 3 years was in Florida, and my entire support system was hundreds of miles away.
For the first time in my life, I felt depressed. Not motivated, not myself and so dependent on my relationship. I felt lost, confused and hopeless. Some days I didn't go to classes and stayed in bed. I drove home every weekend because I didn't feel connected to any of my peers. I have never felt more lonely in my life. All of the friends I grew up with were having the time of their lives, and their freshman years were everything that they hoped it would be.
It was three months into school that I realized I couldn't go on like this any longer. I needed to make a change, or move home. For me, moving home and giving up was not an option. I wanted to try my best, my full effort, before I considered leaving. I made an appointment with a therapist at school. She warned me on our first visit, the school only covers five visits. I thought to myself, I am going to need a lot more than that! That seemed a bit strange to me. After all, my parents were paying close to 40k a year. Anyways, that first day with the therapist, who's name I cannot even re-call changed my life. She put down a simple statement on a piece of white paper. She said, "you can train your mind to be happy. You can train yourself to be happy, and happiness is a choice." She said, "thinking positive and happy, leads to feeling positive and happy, than naturally, you will become positive and happy." It was so simple yet so complex. She suggested taking it one step at a time. Start each morning by finding three things to be happy for. It can be anything from the blue sky, to a great nights sleep, to flowers from my boyfriend. Whenever a negative thought comes in, give it love and attention, and then let it go. Shift your attention and thoughts back to focusing on something positive that makes you feel happy. It is about shifting thoughts from negative to positive, one step at a time, until you train yourself into actually being happy. Each morning I start the day with 3 things I am thankful/appreciative for. You can do it in your iphone notes section, on a pad of paper by your bed, whatever works for you. It has made the world of difference in getting through tough times.
Kristina's Positive aspect list: 8/25/14
1.My king size bed
2.The feeling of Fall in the air
3.The idea and birth of SOULSHINE and Busy Girl Brand
About a month or two later practicing these simple steps each day, I felt happier! It really was that simple. Certain shifts of my thoughts and focus, and I changed my circumstances if front of my eyes. I made a few friends, I was at a 4.0 GPA level, I got involved with extra curriculas's that I enjoyed, and I started researching my "dream schools" to transfer to. That year, I set health and my personal happiness as the top priorities in my life, and I have never looked back. I changed the dianamic in my relationship with my boyfriend from being dependent to independent and it was a very powerful experience for me. I did the same in my friendships and with my family, and I started working from within to find happiness, not outward. That year, I transfered to the school of my dreams, and experienced the best three years of my life. In fact, my life gets better each year since the day I learned about Law of Attraction. I have continued to study the Law of Attraction and Power of Positive thinking for the last ten years. I have reached a level of happiness, love, confidence, pride, success and joy that I didn't even realize was possible. I feel aligned with my true self and purpose in this world. It took years of patience and practice, but I want you all to know that you are capable of living your best lives, of being happier than you could even dream to be. You can build multi-million dollar ideas up from thin air, find true love, get in the best shape of your life, make amazing new friends, travel the world, and truly love the life you live. The bottom line is, you control your destiny. You have the keys to the car. When you understand how powerful this is, and that you are actually in total control of your own happiness and destiny, you can change your life. So what life do you want to live?
The first step I suggest taking to introduce yourself to The Law of Attraction is reading or watching the movie, The Secret. Though this is just a introduction and does not even begin to scratch the surface. The next step would be to read, Living in Joy by Sanaya Roman. Take back your life and destiny, it is never too late to change the path you are on!
